Biography
Alexey Mitrofanov was born in Moscow, in a family of design engineers. He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute , not a single day worked in the specialty. He worked in the Museum of History of Moscow , in various mass media: in the magazine “ Capital ”, in the newspaper “ Izvestia ” (in the early 2000s he led the Moscow history column), in the newspaper “ The First of September ”, on the channel “ Stolitsa ” and others. Alexey Mitrofanov is engaged in local history all his life. Among the favorite topics - Russian history, urban phenomenology, catering .
Alexey Mitrofanov is the author of a series of 15 books “Walks in Old Moscow”, books about Russian cities: Vladimir , Tambov , Kaliningrad , Yaroslavl , Smolensk , Kaluga , the biography of Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky (series ZHZL ). The author of a television program about Gilyarovsky, in which he himself played the role of a famous writer and researcher in Moscow. In 2010–2015, he was the host of the “Chronicles of Moscow Life” series on TV Center .
About himself and his work, Alexey Mitrofanov says briefly:
I come to some city, settle in a hotel, and then wander through museums, drink local vodka, photograph half-destroyed sights, communicate with local historians, empty bookstores, swear at taxi drivers, hang out in libraries, and then return back to Moscow and start writing . Such is my life. [2]
In 2011, Alexei Mitrofanov wrote a book in a new for him genre of the “ironic male detective story” called “The Little Bug”.
