Story

The action takes place 200 years (100 Earth years) after the events described in the first book. The descendants of the “knights” founded their civilization and perceive the “Earth” and “Islands” with the “Dome” as a legend. The aliens are now called “Enemies”, “knights” - “Guides”, and Dima and Ingu - “Leaving Guides”.

To the protagonist minstrel, Vlad, “Speaking to the Gods,” Askin, comes at night. He tells Vlad about the Enemies and offers to go to the Dome in search of them. Vlad at first does not believe Askin, however, the duty of life makes him hit the road. He picks up his dog Islok and leaves.

On the second day of the journey, the minstrel goes to the swamp, in the center of which a hill rises. This hill is the Dome. Ailok refuses to approach the Dome and remains outside, and Vlad climbs inside through the breach. Climbing inside, he sees islands and bridges ...

On this the story breaks off.

From the commentary to the novel

Quote S. Lukyanenko

This text was started in 1993. For a number of reasons, the continuation of the “Knights of the Forty Islands” was never completed. At times, I think it would be worth returning to this book, but whether I will return - I don’t know ...

In any case, it seems to me that fans of the “Knights of the Forty Islands” will be curious to look a little further.
