The Pontifical Committee for Historical Sciences ( Italian: Pontificio Comitato di Scienze Storiche ) is a dicaster of the Roman Curia . The Papal Committee of Historical Sciences was established by Pope Pius XII on April 7, 1954 , to study the church history of the Holy See .
Now it consists of 30 members. The chairman is a French priest - Monsignor Bernard Ardura . Secretary of the Committee - Luigi Michele De Palma.
