He graduated from the Paris Conservatory , a student of Jules Delsard . Together with Joseph Thibault, for the first time he performed a sonata for cello and piano by Jean-Henri Rainier (1896). He performed as an ensemble musician, but did not achieve much success. In particular, Alfredo Casella wrote about the premiere of the trio of Maurice Ravel ( 1914 ), in which he participated with Feillard: “I played with two mediocre musicians. We had about 20 rehearsals, and still they managed to make mistakes ” [1] .
Feyyar received much more recognition as a teacher. His student was, in particular, Paul Tortellier who spoke very highly of his teacher. The performance of Tortellier in the ensemble with his wife Mod Tortellier and daughter Maria de la Pau of Handel’s trio sonatas in Feyard’s arrangement for two cellos and piano is known.
He is the author of numerous textbooks, including The Cello Technique ( Fr. La technique du violoncelle ), The Method for the Young Cello Player ( Fr. Méthode du jeune violoncelliste ), etc.
