Pokrovsky, Igor Alexandrovich

Igor Aleksandr Pokrovsky (1926-2002) - Soviet and Russian architect and artist, full member of RAASN and corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (since 2001 ) [1] . Chief architect of Zelenograd ( 1964 - 2002 ). People's architect of the USSR ( 1991 ). Laureate of the USSR State Prize ( 1975 ). Member of the CPSU since 1955 .

Biography

A graduate of the Moscow Architectural Institute of 1950 (workshop of B. S. Mezentsev ). One of the founders and permanent music director of the satirical ensemble of the Central House of Architects "Kohinor" (1953-1998).

Awards and Prizes

  • USSR State Prize ( 1975 ) - for architectural complexes of Zelenograd
  • RSFSR State Prize in Architecture (1967) - for the architecture of the Moscow Palace of Pioneers
  • Prize of the President of the Russian Federation (2002) [2]
  • USSR people's architect [3] ( 1991 ); Igor Alexandrovich Pokrovsky and Alexander Grigorievich Rochegov became the last gentlemen of this title [3]
  • Honored Architect of the RSFSR (1980) [2] .

On March 4, 2009, in Zelenograd, in the boulevard zone of the New City, the sculptural composition “Architect” was opened (sculptor Sergey Mantserev), the prototype of which was Igor Alexandrovich Pokrovsky [4] .

  • The Bayonets Memorial Complex ( 1964 );
  • The building of the Soviet / Russian Embassy in Paris .
