Racha ( cargo. რაჭა ) is a historical mountainous region of Georgia in the headwaters of the Rioni River with its center in the city of Ambrolauri .
It is populated mainly by Rachin Georgians, and the Georgian-Jewish community resides in them .
In the north-west, Racha is separated by the Lechkhum ridge from Svaneti and Lechkhumi , from the north-east by the Main Caucasian ridge from Russian North Ossetia , from the south by the Rachinsky ridge from Imereti , in the east it borders on South Ossetia .

History
In Racha there was a principality, a vassal to the Imereti king . After 1810 as part of the Russian Empire. The territory of the region roughly corresponded to the Rachinsky district of Kutaisi province .
In modern Georgia, the administrative plan of the region corresponds to the Onsky and Ambrolaur regions of the region Racha-Lechkhumi and Lower Svaneti . In Racha, the village of Khvanchkara is located, where Khvanchkara wine is produced.
