Order Book

Order book of 1943

The Order Book - in the USSR, a document in which the names of orders (together with serial numbers) were awarded, which were awarded to a citizen, formation , enterprise, organization and settlement (subject) of the state.

The order book has a serial number and is made on special paper with watermarks.

Initially, on December 10, 1930, order books of three types were approved - for one, two, three or more orders (later samples appeared for ten awards).

Before the appearance of order books, the recipient was awarded a special diploma . In 1939, the letters presented along with the awards were replaced by order books and certificates for medals , which confirmed the right to wear and privileges.

In addition to the name and surname, there is a place for a photo card in the order book (it is not available in later versions), in some cases it may be absent, but the stamp “Really without a photo card” should have been put down.

In the Russian Federation, persons awarded state awards are issued a single certificate in the form approved by the President of Russia.

The heroes of the Russian Federation are given the appropriate book [1] .

Temporary ID

Temporary certificate for the award Order of Glory III degree air gunner IL-2 Kobzev Mikhail Vasilievich

In situations where the order book could not be issued at the time of the award (first of all, it concerns advanced and active combat operations of military units ) - a temporary certificate was issued, which was a paper form measuring 120 by 140 mm (although there were exceptions). The full name of the recipient, the military rank , date and number of the award order , as well as the name and number of the award, were entered on the form with the seal.

Most often there are temporary certificates, which typographically indicate the reason for the award: "For exemplary performance of combat missions of command on the front of the fight against the German invaders."

Exchange of Temporary Identities

Exchange for permanent documents took place, as a rule, already at the end of the war. This happened in two stages: since it took some time to issue the order book, a receipt of a certain type was initially issued, and then it was exchanged for ready-made documents.
