History
Order of December 8, 1942 , formed in December 1942 on the basis of the management of the 4th airborne corps of the 2nd formation and the 1st airborne brigade .
After formation, it was included in a special group of troops under the command of Colonel General M. S. Khozin , which in mid-February concentrated south of Zaluchia to enter the breakthrough in the offensive zone of the 1st Shock Army . In March and August 1943, they led unsuccessful offensive battles to defeat the old Russian enemy grouping and capture the city of Staraya Russa . Nevertheless, on August 18, 1943, she cut off the Staraya Russa- Kholm road, went to the Porussie river on the section of the Chirikovo villages ( location on the map ) - Kotovo [~ 1] ( location on the map ), and consolidated. By order of the Supreme Command Headquarters No. 030 of February 13, 1944, commemorating the victory gained, the formations and units that distinguished themselves in the battles for the liberation of the city of Zvenigorodka were named Zvenigorodskie. In March-April 1944, takes part in the Uman-Botosha operation , during which it reached the Dniester near the city of Dubossary . In the course of the Yassy-Kishinev operation, it attacked in the second echelon on the Fokshansky direction and on August 31, 1944 entered Bucharest .
In late September, it reached the Romanian - Hungarian border north-west of the city of Arad , from where, on October 6, 1944, it launched an offensive during the Debrecen operation and reached the Tisza river, which it forced in November 1944 during the Budapest strategic operation . By the end of February 1945, she entered the Hron River, participated in the Bratislava-Brnovskoy operation and the Prague operation .
In June — July 1945, she was relocated to Mongolia in the region of Choibalsan , where in August 1945 she took part in the Khingan-Mukden operation , ended the war in the Tungliao region, where she landed for the first time during the existence of the division.
