Hokmun

Hoekmun (Hoekmun), Dorian is a character in the books of Michael Moorcock , one of the incarnations of the Eternal Warrior .

Content

Name and Origin

Unlike most of the characters of Murcock, who usually live in a different world, Hokmun's habitat is our Earth , but in the distant future, where medieval feudalism came back to the place of technogenic civilization . Accordingly, Hokmun carries a conditionally Western European name and surname, which do not make it possible to rank him among one or another people (although he comes from Germany and is the duke of the city of Cologne ).

Appearance

Hokmun is described as a typical representative of the white race : he is fair-skinned and blond, of strong build (since he is a warrior). In the first four books of the cycle, he wears in his forehead a precious Black Stone implanted in his skull by Baron Kalan Vitalsky in order to control his brain. Subsequently, Hokmun gets rid of the stone, but a quadrangular scar remains forever in his forehead.

Character

Like most other incarnations of the Eternal Warrior, Hokmun resists his destiny - to be the savior of the world and the protector of humanity. All he wants is peace and quiet, a quiet family life with his wife (Isolda Brass) and children. Having found the eternal city of Tanelorn , where the souls of the heroes rest, Hokmun does not want to stay in it and returns to Earth, saying: "It is enough for me that Tanelorn exists . "

Meliadus almost succeeds, but Hokmun falls in love with the beautiful Isold Brass, whom he had to abduct, and under her influence becomes the enemy of Granbretania. Connection with other works about the Eternal Warrior

Initially, Murcock planned to end with his last novel about Hokmune - “In Search of Tanelorn” (1975) - his entire mega-song about the Eternal Warrior; after a while he changed his mind - he wrote two trilogies, “Second Ether” (1995) and “Tales of the Albino” (2001-2006), which narrate the events in the Multiverse after the history of Hokmun ended.
