Story

The action takes place in the fictional city of Kanami, the prototype of which was the city of Nagasaki . Morimiya Yorito, a first-year high school student, enjoys photography. He especially likes to take pictures of the sky. So today he came to the embankment early in the morning to photograph the sky at dawn. And there he met a strange girl, with a run, kicking a machine gun to get a can of juice from him. His second meeting with this girl (whose name was Matsuri) took place the next day, in the same place under the same circumstances. And when, after some time, he helped her escape from a strange man with a katana, he brought her to his home. And then it turned out that she was not at all a man, but a yak .

Yaka ( 夜 禍 ), or Yakabito ( 夜 禍 人 ) ( 夜 - night, 禍 - disaster) - special mystical creatures, the embodiment of human suffering and pain. Usually they are always alone and hated by people. Matsuri herself calls the yak monsters (化 物, bakemono ). Outwardly, however, they practically do not differ from people. However, they have some abilities inaccessible to people. Although, strictly speaking, yaks are not ageless, or immortal, they can live for hundreds of years. From wounds inflicted by them, they quickly heal. However, sunlight is disastrous for them, so they go out only at night, or in inclement weather.

Some yaks, such as Matsuri, are yaks from birth, others, like Tomoko, were once people, and only then became yaks. Only a yak from birth can turn a person into a yak.

The katana that Takeshi carried with him has the ability to “transmit life” from one yaki to another. That yak, to whom life was thus transmitted, can again become a man.
