East Zhetybai - a gas and oil field is located in the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan , 110 km southeast of the city of Aktau . The field was discovered in 1967.
7 productive horizons were identified in Middle Jurassic deposits. Horizon VIII oil is heavy, with a density of 895 kg / m³, low sulfur (0.15%), high paraffin (19%), with a high content of silica gel resins (up to 32.4%) and asphaltenes (3.8%). In the deposits of deeper oil horizons, the density is 862-865 kg / m³, the paraffin content in them increases to 28.3% (X-A), the content of silica gel resins decreases to 19.3% (X1-A, B) with a simultaneous increase the content of asphaltenes to 18.9% (XI).
Gas cap gases (IX, XA, XB formations) contain methane 85% and heavy hydrocarbons - 8.6 - 15%.
Currently, the development of the field is conducted by the company OJSC Mangistaumunaigas . Oil production in 2010 amounted to 53 thousand tons.
