History
The tram line was built in Anshan in 1956. The main function of the line was to deliver workers to a large steel mill.
The Anshan tram system was closed in the late nineties or early 2000s.
System Description
The Anshan tram system consisted of one line 13 km long, connecting the city center with a steel mill. About the middle of the line was a depot. The line had the character of a high-speed one, for the most part it ran along a dedicated highway. One endpoint of the line was in Changdianbu, the other in Taipincun.
Rolling stock
At the opening of the tram system had 44 four-axle tram type "Dalian". Four years later, three more trams were built on their own in Anshan. They were almost completely identical to the Dalian, but were slightly longer.
In the sixties and seventies, due to the increase in traffic, trams from other Chinese cities were transferred to Anshan: twenty pre-war four-axle trams from Dalian and fourteen post-war four-axle trams from Shenyang .
In 1987, Anshan received eleven new four-axle trams built in Dalian.
Until 1985, trams in Anshan were painted green , after which orange began to be used.
Organization of work
At the end of the eighties, the interval of trams was five minutes, and during peak hours the interval could be less than a minute.
Anshan used an unusual tariff system: the line was divided into two sections, passengers had to pay for each of them separately. In the middle of the line, near the railway station, all passengers had to get off the tram and pay for the second section, getting on the tram again. The fare for one section was 5 fans (five hundredths of a renminbi ).
