History
The oldest stadium in Russia [1] . From 1800 on the site of the stadium was located the park "Flora". In 1892, the city councilor of Königsberg, a banker, Dr. Walter Simon, built in this area and donated sports and playgrounds to the city. The stadium after this was repeatedly rebuilt and expanded. The arena was home to two football clubs: (played at the stadium until 1929) and (from 1922 to 1944) [1] . Since 1933, when Hitler came to power, he became a permanent place holding parades, marches and rallies.
Current Status
It is considered a monument of federal significance.
In 2018 (for the 2018 World Cup , the final tournament of which was held in Russia ) in Kaliningrad a new stadium Kaliningrad was opened for 35,000 spectators.
