Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia and covers an area of 181 thousand km² . Most of the territory is located in the Mekong basin and is surrounded on almost all sides by mountains, resembling a bowl with high edges.
The Mekong is navigable all over the country, and ships can enter from the South China Sea all the way to Phnom Penh . In the south-west of the country, along the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, are the Cordamon Mountains and Elephant (Elephant) Mountains. Until the mid-1960s, more than 3/4 of the country's territory was occupied by moist tropical forests, however, by the beginning of the 21st century, only 46 percent of forests survived due to the irrational use of nature by humans. In the central part of the country, between Tonle Sap Lake and the Mekong, lies a vast plain on which the vast majority of the country's population lives.
Mount Oral (1810 m above sea level) [1] is the highest point in the country. Located in the southwest of the country in the province of Kampongspa .
