Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center

Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center ( Chinese: 青岛 国际 帆船 中心 , Pinyin : Qīngdǎo Guójì Fānchuán Zhōngxīn ) is a sailing marina ( harbor ) in the Fushan Bay of Qingdao , Shandong Province . The venue for the sailing competitions at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics .

It was built for the Olympics near the Beihai shipyard , construction began on May 25, 2004 and completed in 2008. The area is 45 hectares, two thirds of which will be involved in the Olympic competitions. The center consists of a coastal part, a harbor and a part of the water surface; administrative and judicial offices, a press center, a center for yachtsmen and infrastructure buildings are located on the shore. The harbor and the water part of the center provide sports and technical aspects of the competition.

On the marina embankment is the Olympic Memorial Wall .
