Davamesk , a North African psychotropic product with a high THC content, popular in Egypt , Tunisia and Algeria in the 18th – 19th centuries. It was a greenish "jam", which included cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, pistachios, sugar, orange juice, butter, cantharide extract ("fly flies") and a large amount of hashish . In the 1840s Davamesk was imported into France by order of the psychiatrist J.J. Moreau , who used it in his experiments on the basis of the " Club of Hashishists " ( French Le Club des Hashischins ) - the Paris literary and art salon of the 1840s . The standard dose of Davamesca was one a teaspoon. Its impact is described in detail by many members of the Club, in particular, Charles Baudelaire . Nowadays, Davamez is almost forgotten in North Africa, however, similar drugs are still manufactured in India , Pakistan and Bangladesh.
