Stadium Description
The Astrakhan stadium has long been a resting place and an object for entertainment. The main team of the Astrakhan region - Volgar FC, famous for its traditions, has always gathered impressive crowds of fans at the Central Stadium. Maximum attendance was set in 2001 , when each match gathered an average of 29 thousand spectators, and record attendance was at the central match of the second round of the 2001 season against the Elistin Uralan . This game was visited by 33,000 [2] spectators, which was 2,500 more than the official capacity of the arena.
The territory of the Central Stadium has long been used as a venue for various holidays of city and regional significance. Gazprom and Lukoil companies are organizing their anniversary concerts here. History
The stadium was built in 1955 , and its original capacity was 15,000 spectators. There were installed wooden stands. The first reconstruction with the placement of under-tribune premises was made in 1964 . In the early 1970s, an electronic scoreboard appeared. In 1974, the second reconstruction to expand the stands took place. In 1988, the stadium was transferred from the balance of the fish canning and refrigeration plant to the Astrakhan-Gazprom enterprise . After the collapse of the USSR, the stadium was not repaired for a long time, but in 1999 reconstruction of the stands for installing plastic seats began and a telescopic exit from the pavilion to the field was created. By 2000, 15 thousand plastic seats were installed, and the re-equipment of the lighting masts was completely completed. Since 2002, the next modernization of the stadium has begun. In 2006, new repairs to the stadium and rebuilding of the surrounding area were completed. Costs amounted to more than 50 million rubles. In 2008, in honor of the 450th anniversary of the city, a large-scale reconstruction and redevelopment of the stadium was carried out, the stadium capacity was 17,500 seats after the installation of plastic seats.
Before the match between the FNL and Serie B teams, the stadium lighting system was improved. Illumination reached 1,400 lux [3] .
On May 21, 2015, the final of the Cup of Russia of the season 2014/2015 [4] [5] was held at the stadium. In a duel Moscow “ Lokomotiv ” defeated the Krasnodar “ Kuban ” with a score of 3: 1 [6] .
