Classification

Traditionally, 4–5 subfamilies were distinguished in the Rosy family — Dryadoideae , Maloideae , Prunoideae / Amygdaloideae , Rosoideae, and Spiraeoideae . However, with the beginning of the use of the phylogenetic research method in the classification of plants, the concept of kinship between the pink ones changed. In 2001, according to the traditional classification , it was shown that Amygdaloideae consists of two treasures - Prunus - Maddenia and Exochorda - Oemleria - Prinsepia . In 2007, D. Potter, T. Eriksson, R. Evans and co-authors confirmed these data, at the same time they showed that the genus Prunus should be united with Armeniaca , Cerasus , Amygdalus , Padus , Laurocerasus , Pygeum and Maddenia . In addition, the subfamilies Maloideae , Spiraeoideae, and Prunoideae / Amygdaloideae formed paraphyletic groups within an extensive clade. Thus, they should be united under the common name - Potter and Ericsson use the name Spiraeoideae , however the correct name is Amygdaloideae .

The classification of the subfamily by Potter, Eriksson and others, used on the GRIN website:
