General Information
The title was given in honor of the French sculptor Cesar Baldachchini .
The award ceremony is held annually in February at the Chatelet Theater in Paris.
The greatest number of Cesar awards (10 each) received 2 films in history - The Last Metro (1980) directed by Francois Truffaut and Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) directed by Jean-Paul Rappno . Interestingly, in both films, the main role was played by Gerard Depardieu . Depardieu received Cesar for the main male role only twice for these films, although he was nominated for his career as many as 16 times. The 2005 film “ My Heart Beat Has Stopped, ” directed by Jacques Odiar, won 8 awards.
Record 14 nominations (of which 7 were won) were in the film " Camille Claudel " (1988) directed by Bruno Nuitten . Depardieu also played in this film.
Among the actors more often than others, the prize received Isabelle Adjani , who was recognized as the best actress 5 times (1982, 1984, 1989, 1995, 2010).
