Hulin ( Chinese р 虎林 , Pinyin : Hǔlín ) is a city county in Jixi City District, Heilongjiang Province ( PRC ). The name of the city county comes from the Qihulinhe River flowing here.

History
When civil administration structures were established in Manchuria at the beginning of the 20th century, in 1909 the Nama Commissariat (呢 吗 厅) was formed here, and in 1910 it was renamed the Hulin Commissariat (虎林 厅).
After the Xinhai revolution in China, the management system was changed, and in 1913 the Hulin Commissariat was transformed into Hulin County (虎林 县) in Jilin Province.
In 1931, Manchuria was occupied by Japanese troops , and in 1932 the puppet state of Manzhou was formed. On December 1, 1934, Binjiang Province was created in Manzhou, and Hulin County was also included. On July 1, 1937, a new change in the administrative-territorial division was carried out in Manzhou, and Hulin County became part of the new Mudanjiang Province. On October 1, 1943, at the initiative of the Kwantung Army, the eastern provinces of Manzhou were merged into one province of United Eastern Manchuria.
In 1945, Manchuria was liberated by the Soviet army . After the war, the government of the Republic of China adopted a program of new administrative division of the Northeast . Hejiang Province was formed on November 21, 1945, and Hulin County became part of it. On April 15, 1946, the new Suining Province was created, and Hulin County came under its jurisdiction. In October 1946, Suining Province was transformed into the Mudanjiang Special Region. The Mudanjiang Special Region was transformed into the Mudanjiang Province in 1947, but soon the Mudanjiang Province was disbanded, and its territory was divided between the Hejiang and Songjiang Provinces, and Hulin County again became part of the Hejiang Province. In May 1949, Hejiang Province was annexed to Songjiang Province. In 1954, Songjiang Province was annexed to Heilongjiang Province.
In 1956, Hulin County became part of the newly created Mudanjiang Special Region (牡丹江 专区). In 1960, Hulin and Zhaohe (饶河县) counties were merged into Huzhao (虎 饶 县) counties, but were restored again in 1964. In 1969, there was a border conflict on Damansky Island . In 1983, the Mudanjiang Special District was transformed into the Mudanjiang Urban District. In 1993, Hulin County was transferred to Jixi City District. In 1996, Hulin County was upgraded to a city county.
