The population is 358,313 inhabitants ( 2000 ), of which 281,342 (78.5%) are Han Chinese , including the Tsun, the speakers of the Tsun language, 74,996 (20.9%) are the indigenous people of Li Island.
The city county is located in the lower reaches of the Changjujiang River .
