The first mention of the settlement in 1494.

The legend of the name

According to one legend, the history of the village began with several young families - immigrants from the Carpathian region. At the end of the 14th century, a small group of men with sick women on horseback headed east in search of a comfortable place both from climatic troubles and from constantly attacking enemies.

Long riders rode east, adhering to the banks of the river God. They were tall, up to 2 meters, had large feet and hands (this was evidenced by the skeletons of the first settlers that were later dug up). At one of the stops for rest, the riders carefully examined the area: the river God with clean and clear water, very rich in fish, the shore wide up to 2 km was overgrown with reeds and willow.

Different birds and small animals nest here. To the north, beyond the hills, is a forest. And further east for 3-4 km you can see the village below - on the right side in God (in the present - Khmelnitsky). Here travelers decided to stay for the construction of dwellings. On the hills, north of the river bank, clay and reed dwellings began to be built. And still this part of the village is called the "mountain" (mountain).
