M-346 - a modern Italian training aircraft (TCB). It was originally developed jointly by the Russian Design Bureau. A.S. Yakovleva and Italian L'Alenia Aermacchi . Due to disagreements with the Italian partner, the joint development at the final stage has stopped. Each of the companies received documentation for the basic version of the future aircraft ( glider ), after which they released their own versions of aircraft: Aermacchi built the M-346 TCB, and the Design Bureau named after Yakovleva - combat training aircraft Yak-130 . L'Alenia Aermacchi retained the rights to distribute and market the aircraft worldwide, with the exception of the CIS (including Russia).

After building two prototypes, the third pre-production prototype M-346 LRIP00 took off from the Venegono airfield on Monday, July 7, 2008 . It was presented at the Farnborough International Air Show in July 2008 .
The use of composite materials and titanium in its design allowed to reduce the weight by 700 kg compared to the original prototype, which improved the characteristics of the device.
The aircraft is designed for advanced flight training of pilots and is capable of speeds up to 1060 km / h. The M-346 has two Honeywell F124-GA-200 turbofan engines . The aircraft equipment includes three color displays in the cockpit, an Alenia Difesa avionics kit, and a Martin Baker / SICAMB ejection seat: Mk.16. In the combat version it is capable of carrying a load of up to 3000 kg in weight at 9 nodes of the suspension.
