The Lithuanian national basketball team is the national basketball team representing Lithuania in the international basketball arena. One of the most successful national teams in the world: Lithuania participated in five Olympic Games and won three bronze medals. The governing body of the team is the Lithuanian Basketball Federation .

The Lithuanian national team won two pre-war European Championships: 1937 and 1939 . The Pranas Lubinas (Frank Lubin), who helped popularize basketball in the country, led the national team to these victories. Lubinas is called the “Grandfather of Lithuanian Basketball”.
From 1940 to 1990, Lithuania was part of the USSR ; a large number of players in the Soviet Union team were players from the Lithuanian basketball school. At the 1988 Olympics, 4 Lithuanians won gold medals in the USSR national team: Valdemaras Homichyus , Arvydas Sabonis , Rimas Kurtinaitis , Sarunas Marchiulionis .
Since 1992, the Lithuanian national team has been performing independently. In 2003, she won the European Championship.
In 2011, Lithuania hosted the European Basketball Championship .
