Description
The hat is 5-15 cm in diameter, at the beginning a pillow-shaped, then becomes more flat. The skin is smooth or slightly wrinkled, shiny, whitish-ocher or light yellow in color, sometimes almost white.
The pulp is white, dense, does not change color after cutting, with a pleasant mushroom smell, has no taste.
Leg 5-12 × 2-4 cm, barrel-shaped, solid, whitish-brown, with a white mesh in the upper part.
The tubular layer is white, then light yellow, loose or narrowly grown with a notch. Tubules 1–2.5 cm long, round pores, small.
The remains of the bedspread are missing.
Spore powder brown, spores 15 × 5 μm , fusiform, smooth.
Similar Views
Gall mushroom is an inedible mushroom with bitter flesh, it is distinguished by a tubular layer turning pink with age, the surface of the leg is with a rough mesh, the net has a darker color than the main color of the leg. Ceps and its varieties are edible mushrooms.
Ecology and distribution
It forms mycorrhiza with birch , usually grows on the edges , along the roads. Most common in the northern part of the temperate zone from the Murmansk region and to the south, it is found in Western and Eastern Siberia, in the Far East , and is known in Western Europe ( Sweden , Finland , France ). It is common, sometimes very abundant. Fruiting alone or in groups.
Season: June - October.

Edible mushroom , valued and consumed in the same way as porcini mushroom .
