Traupys ( lat. Thraupis ) - a genus of birds from the family of Tanagra ( Thraupidae ), common in Mexico and Argentina .
They like open areas such as plantations and open forests, some are common in the mountains. They feed mainly on fruits and tree seeds, sometimes nectar and insects.
Build cup-shaped nests, well hidden in shrubs and trees. The female hatches eggs alone.
These tanagra have a squeaky voice; songs consist of 5-10 repetitions.
