Formation Regiment
The regiment was formed on July 31, 1877 from the frame of the Poltava local battalion and lower-ranking reserve and leave officers under the name of the 27th reserve infantry battalion. On October 10, 1878, the battalion was renamed the 64th reserve infantry personnel battalion, which was granted a simple banner on March 31, 1880. March 25, 1892 the battalion was given the name Perevolochensky reserve battalion. On December 1, 1892, the battalion was reorganized into a two-battalion regiment, called the 189th Infantry Reserve Regiment . On January 1, 1898, two more battalions were formed, and the regiment was named the 176th Perevolochensky Infantry Regiment.
