Biography
Born March 31 ( April 13 ), 1906 in Poltava , Russian Empire . The daughter of a journalist and writer D. A. Ivanenko , sister of the Soviet theoretical physicist D. D. Ivanenko . Studied at the gymnasium, then at the working school. In 1922 she entered the Poltava Institute of Public Education.
In 1926 she graduated from the Kharkov Institute of Social Education in Kharkov, in 1931 she graduated from the Ukrainian Research Institute of Pedagogy, headed the section of children's literature in the Kiev branch of the institute. She was a teacher in the children's colony named after M. Gorky under the guidance of A. S. Makarenko .
In 1932-1939 she worked in the publishing house "Young Bilshovik", in 1947-1951 - in the magazine "Barvinok" .
She died on December 16, 1997 . She was buried in Kiev at the Baykovo cemetery .
The daughter, V.V. Ivanenko , also became a children's writer.
Creativity
Published since 1925. Published a large number of books for children.
Also known as an art translator. In her translation published, in particular:
- "Malakhіtova casket" by P. P. Bazhov - from Russian.
- "Slіpiy muzykant", "Children of the Sea" by V. G. Korolenko - from Russian.
- Tales of H. H. Andersen - from Danish.
- Tales of the Brothers Grimm - from German.

- Lesya Ukrainka Prize (1974) - for the novel "Native Children", the novel "Tarasov's Huts" ("Ways of Taras") and "Forest Tales".
- State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR named after T. G. Shevchenko (1986) - for the book "Always on the Road."
- Order of Friendship of Peoples .
- three orders "Badge of Honor" (including 05.III.1939).
