Biography

He graduated from the two courses of the shipbuilding faculty of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Institute, but in connection with the outbreak of the First World War, he transferred to the Military Engineering School.
In 1916 he graduated from the Higher Officer Aeronautical School (Gatchina), after which he took part in the battles on the fields of the First World War as an observer pilot. In 1918, he voluntarily entered the Red Air Fleet, was fired due to illness in 1939. Member of the Civil War. Began to print since 1926. In the interwar years, he actively participated in the promotion of aviation through the Society of Friends of the Air Fleet.
He was head of the TsAGI press department, editor of departmental magazines “ Air Fleet Technique ”, “Airplane”, and others. Member of the USSR SP since 1939. From 1939 to 1945 - war correspondent, political worker. In this capacity, he participated in battles at Khalkhin-Gol and in World War II.
