Lizzy Maguire

Main characters

• Elizabeth Brooke “Lizzy” Maguire ( Hilary Duff ): 14-year-old Lizzy is an ordinary shy schoolgirl, “she didn’t cram or go to school, she wasn’t beautiful or ugly, she wasn’t an athlete, she didn’t start in a noisy company and she wasn’t a winner in the talent contest.” She faces the same problems as all adolescents of her age, and usually finds a way out of any difficult situation.
• Miranda Isabela Sanchez ( Lalane Vergara ): Miranda - Lizzy's girlfriend; she, Lizzy and Proudly make up the main trio of the series. Miranda has a rebellious character. Miranda does not appear in the last six episodes of the series (although mentioned in the credits), as well as in the “ Lizzy Maguire Film ”; Lizzy explains the absence of Miranda by the fact that she left with her parents for a vacation in Mexico.
• David "Gordo" Gordon ( Adam Lamberg ): Gordo is Lizzy's best friend and knows her literally from the cradle. He constantly gives Lizzy practical advice, but she does not always listen to them. David is an intelligent and decent guy who is conscientious in his studies and always gets good grades. Usually he gives a sarcastic assessment of everything that happens around him. From the series “ Barmitsva Gordo ” we learn that Gordo is a Jew by nationality. In the series “The Untitled Project of Stan Janson, ” it is mentioned that Lizzie was in love with Gordo in fourth grade. In the movie Lizzy Maguire , Lizzie realizes that Gordo loves her.
• Matt Maguire ( Jake Thomas ): Naughty Lizzy's younger brother. Mat and Lizzy hate each other and are constantly quarreling, but in difficult situations they try to find a common language and help each other. Matt is a fun and creative boy; he knows how to make people laugh. He spends a lot of time with his best friend Lanny, who does not say a word in the script. Their couple likes to arrange some dirty tricks and jokes around, because of which they often get into trouble and receive punishment from their parents. It has good cheerleader characteristics, especially in physical form.
• Joe Maguire ( Hally Todd ): Mother of Lizzie and Mat. She brings up her daughter quite strictly, but she always tries to become her daughter’s best friend, often putting Lizzy in an awkward position. Lizzy is used to telling her mother about her failures and problems, and Joe is always ready to listen to her and give advice. Even if during the series Lizzie and Joe had some disagreements and quarrels, by the end of the series they will become a vivid example of the ideal relationship between mother and daughter.
• Sam Maguire ( Robert Carradin ): Lizzy and Mat's father, husband of Joe Maguire. He is rather stupid and often afraid to express his opinion, completely agreeing with what his wife says. Sam is completely ignorant of parenting. But still, because of all his strength, he is trying to help his daughter and understand her, and is always ready to lend a helping hand if necessary.

Minor Characters

• Kate Sanders ( Ashley Brillo ): The most popular girl in the school where Lizzy studies. At first, Kate was the best friend of Lizzie and Miranda, but after she bought her first bra , she became very popular and did not want to talk to Lizzie anymore. Thus, Kate became the main enemy of Lizzy. Usually, Kate loved to have fun, trying to make Lizzy's life miserable and miserable, but Lizzy always managed to outwit her. One episode mentions that they are still friends, but because of Kate’s popularity, they couldn’t make friends again.
• Ethan Craft ( Clayton Snyder ): A guy who was crazy about almost all the girls in school, including Lizzie and Miranda. He did not have special mental abilities, but he was very kind and friendly with everyone. Although in the first season of the series he played the role of rather a bad guy or a bully, for example, he forced Gordo to do some things against his will.
• Larry Tajman ( Kyle Downs ): The school has a reputation for being a pretty bore. Almost everyone refers to him as an outcast and a loser, with the exception of Lizzie and her friends. Larry is known for wearing the same shirt from second grade. He suffered from an unrequited love for Lizzy, and even invited her to go with him to the science museum. Lizzy accepted his invitation so that he would not feel miserable.
• Claire Miller ( David Williams ): Kate's best friend. Like Kate, she treats Lizzie with contempt. Sometimes she may not be better off with her friends, including Kate, an example of this is the episode “ The Rise and Sunset of the Kate Empire ”. Claire’s character can be considered a stereotype of a popular schoolgirl.
• Lanny Onaysis ( Christian Kopelin ): Matt's best friend. He did not say a word in the frame, but, nevertheless, Matt does not have any problems in communicating with him.
• Melina Bianco ( Carly Schroeder ): A girl constantly trying to create trouble for Lanny and Mat. Although in the beginning her character is presented as an enemy of Matt, later Mat and Melina begin to feel feelings for each other.
