Biography
Frederick John Robinson was born on October 30, 1782 in Newby Hall, Yorkshire. He graduated from Harrow School and the University of Cambridge College.
He became a member of parliament in 1806 . In 1812 he became a secret adviser, held various lower posts in the government of Lord Robert Jenkinson . Supported the introduction of the grain laws in 1815 , which then became the cause of riots in London .
In 1818, he joined the British Cabinet of Ministers , becoming president of the Chamber of Commerce. Soon became the Chancellor of the Treasury . In 1827 - Minister of the colonies. In the same year received the title of peer (1st Viscount Godrich).
From August 31, 1827 to January 21, 1828 - Prime Minister of Great Britain (replaced the Duke of Wellington ). In the government of Lord Gray again held the post of Minister of the colonies.
In 1830 - 1833 he also served as president of the Royal Geographical Society . In 1833 he received the title of Count Ripon and was appointed Lord Guardian of the Malaya Seal . The following year, he resigned. In 1834 - 1845 - President of the Royal Literary Society .
In 1841 he returned to politics and again became president of the chamber of commerce, as well as president of the control chamber in the government of Sir Robert Peel .
In 1846 he resigned.
Frederick John Robinson, 1st Viscount Godrich died on January 28, 1859 on his estate.
