Liu Xiang

Liu Xiang ( Chinese 刘翔 ; July 13, 1983 , Shanghai ) is a Chinese athlete who specializes in 110m hurdling , the 2004 Olympic champion and the 2007 world champion . He is the first Chinese athlete to win the Olympics and the first to simultaneously win the world championships and set a world record ( English triple crown ). He plays for the Shanghai Club. From August 27, 2004 to June 12, 2008 he was the world champion in the 110 meter hurdles. Engaged in charity work. Has a number of sponsorship contracts.

Sporting Achievements

Liu Xiang won an epoch-making victory for Chinese athletics at the 2004 Olympics with an Olympic record. The popularity of Liu Xiang in China is huge. He also won silver at the 2011 World Cup after the disqualification of Cuban Dayron Robles . Robles crossed the finish line first, but the Chinese delegation said that the Cuban had interfered with Xiang. The IAAF Appeals Panel agreed with the Chinese, dismissing the Cuban delegation’s counterclaim against the decision to strip Robles of the World Cup gold medal [2] .
