The name of the village came from the Chuk. k'onchak ' is the only one [2] .

Located in the south of the district, in the lower reaches of the river of the same name . The district center is approx. 60 km

Transport

The delivery of goods takes place during the summer navigation by river transport, in winter a winter winch is arranged on the ice of the Anadyr estuary. Passenger traffic is carried out by air via scheduled helicopter.

Economics and social infrastructure

The main occupation of the inhabitants is reindeer herding and fishing. Residents of Kanchalan have preserved the traditional way of reindeer herders , in the vicinity of the village there are several reindeer herding teams with herds belonging to the Kanchalansky municipal agricultural enterprise. "Kanchalan village - the Zarya collective farm was formed in 1952. From the 1960s to the 1990s, the Kanchalansky state farm. From May 25, 1967, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Kanchalansky state farm [12] ).

The village has a secondary boarding school, a kindergarten, a post office, a communications center, a culture center, a shop, a bakery, a hotel, and an Atlanta cafe. Since 1949 (1955) a meteorological station has been operating [13] .

By 2005, in the rural settlement, the entire housing stock was overhauled, 110 new individual houses were built [14] .
