Paralympic Winter Games 2010

The 2010 Paralympic Winter Games (officially named the X Paralympic Winter Games ) were held in Vancouver and Whistler , British Columbia , Canada from March 12 to March 21, 2010 . The opening ceremony was held at the BBC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

Canada hosted the Paralympic Games for the second time in history; Canada hosted the 1976 Summer Paralympic Games in Toronto for the first time.

National Paralympic Committees of 44 countries sent their athletes to the 2010 Winter Paralympic Games. This is 5 more countries than at the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games , where 39 countries were represented.

A total of 515 athletes [1] participated in the Games. This is more than participated in the 2006 Winter Paralympic Games , then only 476 athletes participated.

Argentina , Romania , Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Paralympic Winter Games for the first time, although they already took part in the Paralympic Summer Games. Serbia made its debut at these Winter Paralympic Games as an independent national paralympic committee, after a split with Montenegro .

Despite an increase in the number of athletes, Latvia, which participated in the 2006 Paralympic Winter Games in Turin , did not send its athletes to Vancouver.

Presidential Decrees of March 26, 2010 N 373 and N 379

 
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev with champions and medalists of the Paralympic Games in Vancouver and coaches of the Russian Paralympic team.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed Decree N 373 “On awarding state awards to Russian athletes - champions and prize-winners of the X Paralympic Winter Games 2010 in Vancouver”, according to which:

  • The Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree, was awarded to Honored Masters of Sports of Russia Irek Zaripov , Kirill Mikhailov .
  • The Order of Honor was awarded to Honored Masters of Sports of Russia Anna Burmistrova , Lyubov Vasilyeva , Maria Iovleva , Sergey Shilov .
  • The Order of Friendship was awarded to Honored Masters of Sports of Russia Mikhalin Lysova , Nikolai Polukhin .
  • The medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of I degree was awarded to Honored Master of Sports of Russia Tatyana Ilyuchenko .
  • The medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the II degree was awarded to Honored Masters of Sports of Russia Alyona Gorbunova , Vladimir Kiselev , Vladimir Kononov , Roman Petushkov [3] .

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed Decree N 379 “On awarding coaches for training athletes,” according to which:

  • The Order of Honor was awarded to Honored Coach of Russia Vyacheslav Goldinov ( Tyumen Region ), Honored Coach of Russia Amira Gumerova ( Republic of Bashkortostan ), athlete-instructor of the Rodnik Sports Club Alexei Ivanov ( Yekaterinburg ), athlete-instructor of the state institution of the Sports Training Center Andrei Tokarev ( Tyumen ) .
  • The Order of Friendship was awarded to Honored Coach of Russia Irina Gromova (Moscow), Honored Coach of Russia Valeria Ogorodnikova (Sverdlovsk Region), Chairman of the Executive Committee - First Vice President, Head of Staff of the Paralympic Committee of Russia Pavel Rozhkov , sports instructor of the Sports Training Center Natalya Yakimova (Tyumen).
  • Honored Master of Sports of Russia Valery Koshkin ( Altai Territory ) was awarded the medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” of the 1st degree [4] .
