Alexander Jozef Skrzyński ( Polish: Aleksander Józef Skrzyński ; March 19, 1882 , Zaguzhany , Galicia - September 25, 1931 , Ostrow Wielkopolski ) - Polish statesman. Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1922 - 1926 (with interruptions in various governments), Prime Minister in November 1925 - May 1926 .

Biography

He studied law at the University of Vienna ( 1900 - 1904 ), continuing his education at the University of Cracow . He graduated in 1906 , receiving a doctorate in law. Since 1906, in the diplomatic service of Austria-Hungary , he served under the Emperor Franz Joseph I. He took part in the First World War with the rank of second lieutenant, then - adjutant of General Tadeusz Rozvadovsky , since 1916 - an officer in reserve. He worked in the diplomatic service in The Hague , Berlin , Paris .

After the creation of an independent Polish state (1918), he was appointed plenipotentiary in Bucharest ( Romania ) in 1919 . After the assassination of the first Polish president, Gabriel Narutovich, was appointed December 16, 1922 as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the office of Vladislav Sikorsky . After the formation of the government of Vincent, Vitos lost his post on May 28, 1923 .

July 27, 1924 again received the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Vladislav Grabsky . In this post, he achieved settlement of Poland’s debts to the United States and Great Britain , concluding a concordat with the Vatican , establishing diplomatic relations with Czechoslovakia , Poland’s active participation in the development of the Geneva Protocol on the Prohibition of Chemical and Biological Weapons (1925), conclusion of an arbitration agreement with Germany under the Locarno Treaties 1925 and about Danzig in favor of Poland.

On November 13, 1925, Skrzynski succeeded Hrabsky as prime minister, creating a coalition government with the support of the National Democratic Union and the Polish Socialist Party , while retaining the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs. After the Socialist Party left the coalition , the government of Vincent Vitos came to power on May 10, 1926, which fell on May 14 as a result of the coup d'état of Jozef Pilsudski .
