He began to learn to play the piano at the age of four, at the age of 10 he was admitted to the Paris Conservatory in the class of Emile Decombe . He graduated from the course in 1898, a year later he performed with Jules Massenet , performing the works of the latter on the piano four hands. He also performed with Louis Diemer and with violinist Marcel Chailly [1] , and performed with the Colonna Orchestra . By the beginning of World War I, he was forced to abandon his performing career due to poor health.

In the 1900s debuted as a conductor. He directed the orchestra in Grenoble , then the casino music program in Dieppe . In 1919 he conducted the premiere of the opera of Marcel Samuel-Russo "Taras Bulba".

In 1927-1951 Professor of the Paris Conservatory . Among the most notable students of Ferte - Germain Mounier , Pierre Barbise , Jacques Castered , Daniel-Lesure .

He is best known as the editor of the famous textbook by Charles Louis Ganon, “The Pianist Virtuoso,” who prepared an expanded and expanded edition, a reduced edition for beginners, etc.
