The state of Kiribati took part in the games of the Summer Olympics for the second time [1] . It was planned to send a team of three people, however, Caitinano Mvemvita , an athlete who was supposed to participate in the 200 meter race, was in Fiji , where she was treated for tuberculosis and did not arrive in Beijing [2] . As a result, the country was represented by one athlete and one weightlifter.
