Biography
Born December 24, 1943 in the city of Batumi, Georgia, in the family of a military man.
In 1964 he graduated from the Kharkov Electromechanical College , in 1964 - 1965 he worked at the Research Institute of Low Temperatures of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1965-1967 - at the Research Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, in 1967 - 1970 - at the Kiev branch of the Energoset Institute.
In 1973 he graduated from the Moscow Theological Seminary , in 1978 - the Moscow Theological Academy , where he remained to work on teaching and administrative work.
On April 4, 1977, he was tonsured a monk, on May 19, he was elevated to the rank of hierodeacon , and on November 6, he was ordained a hieromonk .
In 1980 he was elevated to the rank of hegumen .
In 1983, he was transferred to the post of senior assistant inspector of the Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary.
From 1986 to 1997, he successively held the positions of assistant inspector for the correspondence sector of the Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary, assistant to the rector for teaching, head of the food service of the Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary.
In 1993 he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .
Since 1996, he taught homiletics at the Moscow Theological Academy.
On July 17, 1997, by the decision of the Holy Synod, it was determined to be bishop of Polotsk and Gluboksky [1] .
On August 10, 1997, in the Epiphany Cathedral of Polotsk, he was consecrated bishop of Polotsk and Gluboksky .
February 24, 2006 elevated to the rank of archbishop .
During the local council of 2009, he proposed to elect the Patriarch by lot, other bishops objected, and the Council rejected this proposal.
