History

In April 1896, the State Council of the Russian Empire decided to establish the Tomsk Technological Institute (TTI).

On October 9, 1900, the TTI began training mechanics, and then - civil engineers of the railway transport.

It was created in July 1930 in Tomsk from two faculties of the Tomsk Technological Institute as the Siberian Institute of Transport Engineers (SIIT).

In 1932, the Novosibirsk Institute of Railway Engineers was created from the Faculty of Civil Engineering , and SIIT was transformed into the Tomsk Electromechanical Institute of Transport Engineers (TEMIIT).
