Lowe, Andrew Bonar

Andrew Bonar Law ( born Andrew Bonar Law ; September 16, 1858 - October 30, 1923 ) - Prime Minister of Great Britain, leader of the Conservative Party in 1916-1921 and 1922-1923. The only British Prime Minister, born outside of it.

Biography

Andrew Bonar Law was born in Canada , New Brunswick in Rexton , in the family of a Presbyterian priest. At an early age he was taken to Scotland , where he was brought up in a family of rich relatives. For a long time, Andrew Lowe worked at the Scottish metallurgical plant. And in 1900 he was elected to the Parliament of Great Britain .

In 1905, Andrew Bonar Law was invited to the government as the Minister of British Colonies. In 1916, Lowe had the first chance to become Prime Minister, but he chose to occupy lower ministerial posts in the office of David Lloyd George .

On October 23, 1922, Lowe became Prime Minister, but resigned as early as May 22, 1923 due to a serious illness — laryngeal cancer — from which he died the same year on October 30 [1] .
