Logo.sys

Logo.sys is a system file used in older versions of Windows based on DOS , for example, Windows 95 , Windows 98 and Windows Me , to display bootloader messages. In modern versions of Windows, the boot screen is loaded from the kernel system files (for example, Ntoskrnl.exe in Windows XP ).

  • C: \ Logo.sys : "Starting Windows 9x ..." ("Starting Windows 9x ...") (the default Logo.sys file can be located in IO.SYS )
  • C: \ Windows \ Logow.sys : "Please wait while Windows is shutting down" ("Please wait while Windows is shutting down")
  • C: \ Windows \ Logos.sys : "It is now safe to turn off your computer" ("Now you can turn off the computer’s power")

Content

Logo.sys is a compressed Bitmap file in the RGB model with a maximum resolution of 320 × 400 with 256 colors. Windows, when displayed, stretches it to 640 × 480 pixels. Windows also animates the image by changing the color palette. A file can be opened in Microsoft Paint to view its contents.
