History
Paper Magazine
The Afisha magazine was founded in 1999 by the journalist Ilya Oskolkov-Tsentsiper, who became its first editor-in-chief. The first art editor was comic book author Pavel Sukhikh . The samples for Afisha were the Evening Moscow editions (which Tsentsiper had previously worked on) and TimeOut , who worked in the same niche of lifestyle and entertainment. But the creators from the very beginning sought to differ from them, focusing not on simply informing the reader, but on the personal opinions of journalists [2] .
About $ 1 million was invested in the project at the start. The founders and investors of the magazine were Anton Kudryashov (51% stake in Afisha Publishing House) and Andrew Paulson (15%), who became the director general of the publishing house. Later, 100% of the shares were bought by Sputnik investment company.
In 2003, Yuri Saprykin became the new editor-in-chief, who joined Afisha in 2000 and almost immediately became deputy editor-in-chief. In 2005, the publishing house was sold to Prof-Media Holding. Oskolkov-Tsentsiper at the same time replaced Paulson as CEO.
In July 2008, the young journalist Ilya Krasilshchik , who barely exceeded twenty [3] [4] [5] , was appointed to the post of chief editor of Afisha magazine. Saprykin explained his departure by the fact that the magazine needed “interest in the new”, characteristic of young people, and he was “tired”, and he “was scared to think that you would mess with the“ entertainments of Moscow ”to the grave board” [6] . A year later, Oskolkov-Tsentsiper was unexpectedly fired from the publishing house. The reason for the resignation was a disagreement with the leadership of the ProfMedia holding: as the president of the holding, Rafael Akopov, said, “An employee issuing an ultimatum to an employer is a bad employee” [7] .
In April 2013, significant changes took place in the structure and design of the magazine; schedules and reviews were excluded, which after that began to be published only on the journal’s website and in applications for mobile devices [8] [9] . In June 2013, Dyer became director of products for Afisha Publishing House, and Alexander Gorbachev took his place. He worked in the magazine since 2005 - first as a music columnist, and then as editor-in-chief.
Gorbachev spent only one year as editor in chief, until August 1, 2014, and then left this post. “The reasons for my departure are more or less set forth in the New Year’s address of B. N. Yeltsin on December 31, 1999,” Gorbachev noted. His place was taken by Daniel Trabun , previously the head of Look At Me . Under him, in 2014, the paper issues of the application magazine “Poster. World "and" Poster. Food ”, these publications have become sites [10] .
In December 2015, the entire editorial board of the paper magazine was fired. Initially, it was announced that from now on the magazine will be published once a quarter with a new team [11] , but in fact, after that the magazine stopped publishing completely [12] [13] . At the end of 2016, the publishing house announced that the issue of the journal would not be resumed [14] .
Website
The site afisha.ru was launched almost simultaneously with the founding of the magazine, in 1999. The main site www.afisha.ru is an aggregator of entertainment information. Editorial articles were published in the afisha.ru/daily section. In September 2008, the Poster-Food website was launched [15] . Since 2010, the site, along with editorial reviews, has a user review feature. [16] .
In October 2013, it was announced that the "Poster Daily" section was "permanently closed." Instead, Afisha launched three new sub-sites: Afisha-Volna (about music), Afisha-Air (about other culture) and Afisha-Gorod (about city life) [17] . In 2015, the Poster-Wave website became part of the Poster-Air. In December 2015, the experiment was found to be unsuccessful, and the three sites were again merged into the " Poster-Daily " [18] , which became in some way a replacement for the closed paper magazine. Then the combined publication was headed by Ekaterina Dementieva, but in 2017 she announced her dismissal, and her post was taken by Julia Rabkina, who was at that time the deputy general director of the Afisha holding. [19] .
In 2016, the “Poster Quests” project was launched, which includes a list of companies organizing quests in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large cities of Russia. [20] There are also a selection of quests and their rating.
In 2019, Afisha.ru editor-in-chief Philipp Vuyachich and digital director Alexander Krushin left the “Poster” [21] . The place of Vuyachich was taken by Roman Bobylev, who previously held the position of news editor [22] .
