Hualaiue ( Spanish: Hualaihué ) is a commune in Chile . The administrative center of the commune is the village of Rio Negro . The population is 2,406 people (2002). The village and commune is part of the province of Palena and the region of Los Lagos .

Location
Rio Negro is located 64 km southeast of the administrative center of the region of Puerto Montt and 100 km north of the administrative center of the province of Chaiten .
The commune borders:
- in the northeast - with the commune of Kochamo
- in the east - with the province of Rio Negro ( Argentina )
- in the south - with the commune of Chaiten
In the west of the commune is Ankud Bay.
Demographics
According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 8,459 people, of which 4,474 are men and 3,985 are women.
The population of the commune is 1.06% of the total population of the Los Lagos region . 57.06% belong to the rural population and 42.94% to the urban population.
