Location
The village is located on the island of Chiloe , 86 km south-west of the administrative center of the region of Puerto Montt and 45 km to the north-east of the administrative center of the province of Castro .
The commune borders:
- in the south-west - with the commune of Dalcaue
- in the west - with the commune of Ankud
In the east of the commune is Ankud Bay.
Demographics
According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 9102 people, of which 4818 are men and 4284 are women.
The population of the commune is 1.15% of the total population of the Los Lagos region . 70% belongs to the rural population and 30% to the urban population.
