Calbuco ( Spanish ) Is a city in Chile . The administrative center of the eponymous commune . The population is 12,165 people ( 2002 ). The city and the commune is part of the province of Lianquee and the region of Los Lagos .

Location
The city is located 35 km southwest of the administrative center of the region of Puerto Montt .
The commune borders:
- in the north - with the municipality of Puerto Montt
- in the east - with the commune of Hulayue
- in the west - with the commune of Maulin
In the south of the commune is Ankud Bay.
Demographics
According to information collected during the census by the National Institute of Statistics, the population of the commune is 33881 people, of which 17484 are men and 16397 are women.
The population of the commune is 4.26% of the total population of the Los Lagos region. 63.6% refers to the rural population and 36.4% to the urban population.
