Vasily Stepanovich Gvozdetsky (born August 16, 1930 , Shura-Kopievskaya, Tulchinsky district , Vinnitsa region ) is a Ukrainian physicist . Chief Researcher of the Department of Physics of Gas Discharge and Plasma Engineering of the Institute of Electric Welding E. O. Paton .

Biography
He graduated from Kiev Shevchenko State University , Faculty of Radio Physics (1960) with a degree in Radio Physics and Electronics. Scientific degrees and titles - Candidate of Technical Sciences (1968), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1976), Professor (1989). In 2004 he was elected a member of the public organization “ Ukrainian Academy of Sciences ”.
The main directions of scientific activity: physical phenomena in the welding arc and high and low pressure plasma, electron emission in the cathode spot of the arc; magnetic control of the welding arc; microplasma welding; interaction of laser radiation with plasma; development of new methods, technologies and equipment for welding and heat treatment of both metals and living tissues.
The author of over 200 scientific papers, 53 copyright certificates of the USSR and 22 patents in different countries.
