Pangbourne College ( Pembourne College ) is an open co-educational school located in the southwestern part of Pangbourne , in the county of Berkshire , England , west of Reading .
The school was founded by Thomas Lane Devitt in 1917 as the Penborn Sea College . The main function of the school was to prepare the boys for service in the British Merchant Navy as officers. Since 1969 , the college is reoriented more to academic education. Since 1996 , co-education of boys and girls begins at the college.
Headmaster, Mr. Thomas Garnier served in the Royal Navy before taking up teaching.
In the summer, English is taught to students aged 11-18 years at the College.
