Biography
He studied at the Liège and Brussels Conservatories. In 1867 - 1870 he worked in the Warsaw Opera, in the season of 1870 - 1871 - in the opera house in Moscow . In 1872, he returned to Belgium, taught at the Brussels Conservatory (among his students, in particular, Adolf Biarent ), led the orchestra of the La Monna Opera Theater, and in 1886 - 1889, together with the singer Alexander Lapissid, was the director of the theater. Simultaneously, since 1873 (replacing Henri Vietan in this position), he led the Orchestra of Folk Concerts; at the invitation of Dupont by this orchestra in 1896, Richard Strauss conducted in Brussels.
