Dmitry Timofeevich Gunya ( Ukrainian: Dmitro Timoshovich Gunya ; birth and death years unknown, 1st half of the 17th century) - one of the leaders of the struggle of Ukrainian peasants and Cossacks against Polish power in the 30s of the 17th century . Hetman of Ukraine in 1637 and 1638 .

Biography
He participated in the battle of the rebels led by Pavlyuk with the Polish army near Kumeyki in December 1637 . After the capitulation of the weakened rebel army fled to the Zaporizhzhya Sich .
In the spring of 1638, Gunya joined the peasant-Cossack uprising led by Jacob Ostryanin . In early June 1638, Ostryanin with part of the Cossacks went to the territory of the Russian state. Most of the rebels, having elected Hetman Gunu, continued the struggle. The rebels retreated to the mouth of the river. The elder, to the Dnieper and, well fortified, held on until the end of July. Guna with a detachment of Cossacks managed to escape to Russia.
In 1640, he was at the head of the naval campaign of the Don and Cossacks against the Turks.
Guni’s further fate is unknown.

The history of the Cossack uprising of 1637-1638 is set out in the diaries of Simon Okolsky and formed the basis of the book of N. V. Gogol "Taras Bulba" .
