Medal "200 years to the Ministry of Defense"

According to the Regulation, the medal “200 years to the Ministry of Defense” is awarded to:

• personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation , conscientiously performing official duties and having a length of service of 25 years or more in calendar terms;
• servicemen of other troops, military units and bodies in which the legislation of the Russian Federation provides for military service, by decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The medal is worn on the left side of the chest and is located after the medal of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation "For Distinction in Military Service" .

The medal is made of silver-colored metal, has the shape of a circle with a diameter of 32 mm with a convex side on both sides. On the front side of the coin: in the center - a relief image of the emblem of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation; below it is a relief image of a cartouche shield framed below by a laurel branch with an inscription in two lines “200 years” ; in a circle in the lower part there is a relief inscription: “MINISTRY OF DEFENSE” . On the reverse side of the coin there is a relief inscription: in the center - “1802 - 2002” , in a circle - “MINISTRY OF MILITARY LAND FORCES - MINISTRY OF DEFENSE”.

The medal is connected with an eye and a ring to a pentagonal block covered with a silk moire ribbon 24 mm wide. From the right edge of the tape, an orange strip 10 mm wide is bordered by a black strip 2 mm wide, to the left is a silver strip 12 mm wide, in the middle of which is a red strip 2 mm wide.

Elements of the medal symbolize:

• the image of a double-headed eagle crowned with a crown with spread wings holding a sword in his right paw and a laurel wreath on his chest with a shield depicting a horseman striking a dragon with a spear is the official symbol of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, built on the basis of the State Emblem of the Russian Empire the period of formation of the Ministry of War;
• the emblem of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, combined with the image of a cartouche shield framed by a laurel branch, is the continuity of the glorious fighting traditions of different generations of military personnel and civilian specialists from the central apparatuses of the military command and control bodies providing the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

According to the Federal Law of the Russian Federation “On Veterans” and the by-laws adopted in its development, the award of the “200 years to the Ministry of Defense” medal in the presence of the relevant seniority or length of service gives the right to confer the title of “ veteran of labor ” ^[1] .
